Friday, May 7, 2010.     Mark that day for the 10th Annual Challenge of the Lakes tourney to be held at Kingwood Country Club with a shotgun start at 1:00.  There will be a cash lunch prior to and a cocktail party immediately following which will include the Trophy presentation.

If you are interested in playing, please contact Dave Cowan at dcowan@paccar.com or call him at 706-782-7142 and include your handicap.  This enjoyable outing is open to all handicaps.  Lake Burton's average handicap is in excess of 20.  Pricing is being negotiated but Dave feels it will be our least expensive one yet.

Blue Grass Music Jam.  Did you know each Saturday evening there is "live" Blue Grass Music in downtown Tallulah Falls, GA?  The actual location is on Main Street just before you get to the police station.  Main Street intersects US Hwy 441 between Tallulah Gorge Grill and the old Train Depot.  Bring you own folding chair.  There is coffee and often tasty eats.  If you would like to bring refreshments to share with the crowd, everyone will appreciate it.  This is a family environment and alchol is not allowed.  The music is another great adventure for a Saturday night.

Get your boat ready.  The DNR recommends everyone take a few moments and review the safety items on or in your boat.  Here is a general list:  boat safety certification card, certificate of boat registration on board, validation decal displayed, PDF's "life jackets" for each passenger and driver, Type B-1 fire extinguisher, ignition safety switch on PWC's, navagation lights front and back, paddle, square throw cushion, rear view mirrors when towing skiers and tubers, and your driver's license.  I am sure there are more, but this will get us thinking boat safety.

Boat Registration.  If your registration has expired, go by Hall's Boat House, pick up a form, fill it out, include the check and send it in promptly.  Keep your receipt portion in the boat so the DNR will know you have taken care of business.
